It’s here… the Primary Election. Centerville and Beavercreek residents will vote on school funding, while Dayton residents have the duty and honor of populating November’s ballot.

It’s been 20 years since Dayton’s Mayoral and Commission races have BOTH been taken to the nonpartisan primary election.
What does this mean?
All Mayoral & Commission candidates, regardless of political party, are on the primary election ballot this year… and all registered voters in the city of Dayton can participate! The primary is one of the most important phases of the election process. I would also argue participation in a local election is more important than state or federal, because it is personal – our streets, our neighborhoods, our property values, our future. Some project that only 11,000 people will vote today, so get out and exercise your ability to choose the best candidates for the General Election in November.
Who is on the ballot?
The three candidates racing for Mayor are Incumbent Gary Leitzell, former judge and county auditor A.J. Wagner, and City Commissioner Nan Whaley. Top two advance to November’s ballot.
Vying for the two City Commission seats are Incumbent Joey Williams, South Park based Entrepreneur David Esrati, State School Board member Jeff Mims, Chairman of the Northwest Priority Board David Greer, and Dayton Digital Media founder Joe Lutz. Four of these candidates advance to the general election in November.

Why does it matter?
This Primary is a big deal. Dayton has bounced back with a force, and our city is ready for some big, bold ideas! It is time to decide, so make it count. Get out and VOTE!
